Common Toilet Issues
Your Plumbing system works hard to keep your home clean. As a homeowner you should maintain your plumbing system. This is to prevent any breakdowns down the line. For example your toilet isn’t working properly and it causes a mess in a bathroom in your home. Here are a few tips to fix a leaky toilet and other common toilet issues.
If your toilet is clogged then you want to stop any overflowing. Remove the lid from the toilet and close the flapper. This will prevent any water from going into the bowl. The shutoff valve is a more concrete solution for over flowing. Twist the valve at the back of the unit clockwise. The final step is use a plunger to remove the clog. Have a bucket nearby.
Fix a running toilet
A running toilet can put a big toll on your monthly water bill.To fix a running toilet, first, remove the lid from the top of your toilet and put it in a safe place nearby. Inspect the flapper . If you see any damage on the flapper then it has to be replaced. If there is no damage on the flapper than the issue is with the chain or lever. Make sure the chain is connected and secure.
Toilet Leaks Imagine you walk into your bathroom and you see a pool of water. Leaks can be sudden and unexpected. Use leak detection tablets in your toilet. Place them in the tank of your toilet. After 10 minutes, look in the toilet bowl to see if any of the color appears. If it does then your toilet has a leak.Flush the toilet right away. Toilet leaks may require a flapper replacement or repair of the fill valve. Two things that would require a professional plumber to handle.
